IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
Each Kimsufi server has a public IPv4 address and an IPv6 address range (/128).
Additional IP
Additional IPv4 addresses can be transferred between OVHcloud servers, providing failover capabilities. These IP addresses can also be geolocated in 14 countries. On Kimsufi, the number of additional IPs is in /128 format (16 slots).
IPMI over IP
The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) console can be accessed via the OVHcloud Control Panel or API, and provides you with a direct connection to your dedicated server. Even if your server becomes unavailable, you can keep control of your machine through its public IP address.
OVHcloud Connect

How do I choose a dedicated server?
Choosing a dedicated server depends primarily on your needs and the way you want to use the machine. Whatever your choice, however, it’s important to consider the main features of your server: RAM, storage capacity, and bandwidth. We know that budget is an important factor to you. That’s why we have implemented several Eco ranges (Kimsufi, So you Start, Rise), so you can find a machine that suits you best.
Whichever range you choose, our Eco dedicated servers come with the reliability and performance you need to grow your business – while remaining within your budget.
How does a dedicated server work?
A dedicated server is a type of server hosted on the internet, to put something like a website or application online. It is used exclusively by one person or organization. Unlike a shared server where resources are shared between multiple users, a dedicated server offers optimal performance and full control over the machine's resources.
And unlike the cloud, dedicated servers have no virtualization layer, so all resources are allocated to the user. You also have control of your machine, from its security to its configuration.
A dedicated server is made up of several components, including RAM, processor, and storage space. It can be used for several projects, such as hosting websites, business applications, or online games.
What are the advantages of a dedicated server?
There are many advantages to using a dedicated server.
- All the resources dedicated to your project: with a dedicated server, you get the machine’s entire resources, unlike shared hosting or the cloud. This includes compute capacity, data processing, and storage. Since there is no virtualization layer, your applications can make full use of the dedicated resources.
- Choice of operating system: To set up your dedicated server, you need to choose the operating system you want. OVHcloud offers different pre-installed distributions, such as Windows Server, Linux, and UNIX, as well as control panels like Plesk and cPanel.
- Full control with root access: one of the key benefits of a dedicated server is the total control it provides. With root access, you can manage, configure, and secure your server via a command line or a management interface.
